Snap-Action Power Switches

Construction Details

Shallco snap-action switches comprise assemblies of electrically insulated stators and rotors as an integral assembly with a drive mechanism that indexes the rotors in 90 degree increments. The unique drive mechanisms employ stored energy that, when released, provides millisecond "open" and/or "closure" of electrical circuits.

The stationary stator contacts may be "non-shorting", "shorting" or "sweep" depending on appication requirements. The rotor designs allow for 180 degree (straight-across), 90 dgree (right-angle) and multi-blade types for up to four-throw switching.

Stators are premium electrical grade thermoset plastic and stationary contacts are heavy guage copper. The clip-style rotor blades are phospor-bronze riveted to a brass driving washer.

Part Number Code

The above tables describe the six basic circuits available for the Shallco Series 1 (10 ampere) and Series 3 (30 ampere) snap-action rotary switches. A complete part number consists of the circuit code prefixed by the "series-number"; "1" for a 10 ampere device and "3" a the 30 ampere device, as in the following example.

3B02-4; 30 ampere, circuit "B", two pole, 4 position.
